New Delhi, April 2 -- Leader of Opposition (LoP) Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the Central government to withdraw the cases filed against Dalit and Adivasi youth on April 2, 2018, during the nationwide protests against the Supreme Court ruling on the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act or the PoA act.
In his letter, Gandhi said that the protests were triggered by a judicial pronouncement that "weakened the SC/ST Act". He added that "fourteen Dalit youth died tragically on that day".
