Gurdaspur, July 16 -- Clashes broke out between rival groups during the Qadian Municipal Council presidential election in Punjab's Gurdaspur district on Thursday, with a verbal altercation between supporters escalating into a physical scuffle.

With police personnel already present on the site, the situation was brought under control soon after.

Speaking to the reporter on the incident, Punjab Assembly Leader of the Opposition and Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa claimed that the police acted against his supporters.

"The police actually aided in getting an FIR registered against three of our men; two have been taken to the police station, and one is missing. The dispute is of Selabpur village, 10 kilometres away from here," Bajwa said...
