Vijayawada, Sept. 21 -- Police resorted to a lathi-charge on YSRCP protesters gathered in front of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) office in Vijayawada on Monday, as they protested alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC recruitment process under the sports quota.

The situation turned tense as police tried to disperse the protesters and prevent them from entering the SAAP office. Several YSRCP leaders and activists were detained by the police.

The YSRCP alleged that irregularities took place in the recruitment under the sports quota and demanded justice for eligible candidates. Party leaders also demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities and sought action against those responsible.
