Parliamentary panel examines Statistical Institute Bill, Chairman says effort is to improve statistical data
New Delhi, Sept. 9 -- The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance on Wednesday examined the Indian Statistical Institute Bill, 2026, with its Chairman, Bhartruhari Mahtab, saying efforts are being made to improve the country's statistical data framework and incorporate emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and data consolidation into the institute.
Speaking to ANI after representatives of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation briefed the committee on the Bill, the Chairperson said the statistical ecosystem has changed significantly and the institute needs to adapt to newer areas of data and technology.
