New Delhi, Sept. 1 -- Congress leader Supriya Shrinate on Tuesday alleged that more than 75,000 people in West Bengal were unable to exercise their fundamental right to vote due to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, claiming that the exercise had distorted the electoral mandate.

Speaking to ANI on the SIR draft list, Shrinate said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had been consistently raising concerns over the exercise and cited examples from Maharashtra, Delhi and West Bengal.

"Rahul Gandhi has been consistently raising the issue of the SIR. When the Maharashtra SIR was conducted, the names of 2 crore people were being deleted... In Delhi, one-third of the people had their names removed," Shrinate said.
