New Delhi, July 29 -- The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that a total of 61,738 posts are vacant across the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the Assam Rifles against a sanctioned strength of 10,73,728 personnel.

The actual strength of these forces currently stands at 10,04,482 personnel.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai shared the figures in a written reply to a question raised by MPs Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Manan Kumar Mishra, Sandeep Kumar Pathak, Ryaga Krishnaiah, Medha Vishram Kulkarni, Ujjwal Deorao Nikam, Subhash Barala and Tarun Chug.
