Jaipur, Aug. 22 -- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday praised the Maheshwari community for its contribution to education, healthcare and social welfare, saying that citizens and social organisations have an important role in nation-building.

Birla was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Maheshwari Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre in Jaipur. He congratulated the Maheshwari Samaj for initiating a new chapter of human service through the healthcare project.
