NTPC CMD flags waning private sector interest in nuclear despite new law, calls for execution focus to hit 100 GW target
New Delhi, April 17 -- Despite the government enacting the landmark Shanti Act to open up nuclear power, the same level of "excitement from the private sector is not seen," NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh said on Friday.
Speaking at an event on India's nuclear journey, Singh said the law addressed the two biggest concerns that had held back private participation for years.
"Their main concern was liability, which I believe has been taken care of, and the other end is the private sector participation, which is again already taken care of," he said. "But after that, I think the same kind of excitement from the private sector is not seen. I'm not sure what the reason is... what are the things which are really causing some...
