Mumbai, Aug. 25 -- The equity markets closed higher on Tuesday, supported by a moderation in crude oil prices and bond yields after the much-anticipated US sanctions against Iran fell short of market expectations.

The Nifty 50 index closed at 24,260.05, gaining 41 points or 0.17 per cent, while the BSE Sensex ended at 77,529.94, up 160.83 points or 0.21 per cent.

Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited, said easing in crude oil prices and bond yields provided some relief to investors.
