Imphal, Aug. 30 -- Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Sunday appealed to all sections of society in the state to refrain from calling bandhs or blockades to air their grievances, saying such actions sometimes lead to unwanted violent incidents, and urged them to adopt other forms of democratic agitation instead.

Speaking to the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) before leaving for New Delhi, the Chief Minister said the Manipur and Union governments were committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the state.

Therefore, calling a bandh will not serve any purpose and will instead create more hardship for the people, he said.
