Meerut, June 29 -- A massive fire erupted at a chemical manufacturing unit located in Dhir Khera village of Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday, sending thick plumes of toxic smoke into the sky.

Local fire emergency response units mounted a rapid containment operation to bring the raging flames under control.

Upon receiving the distress call on June 29, the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) immediately coordinated a cross-district response, dispatching emergency assets from the neighbouring Hapur fire station to aid local teams in Meerut.

Fire tenders were deployed on-site, battling hazardous, high-temperature chemical flames to prevent the fire from jumping to adjacent industrial blocks.
