Mumbai, March 13 -- Maharashtra, which currently hosts a large share of India's data centre infrastructure, plans to expand its digital backbone drastically over the next decade, State Development Commissioner-Industries Deependra Singh Kushwah told ANI today.
"At present, we are having approximately 1 gigawatt of data centre capacity in Maharashtra," Kushwah told ANI on the sidelines of the 7th CII Datacenter Blueprint Summit 2026, underscoring the state's leading role in the country's technology infrastructure.
"We have signed memoranda of understanding worth around Rs.5 lakh crore of upcoming investment in data centres in Maharashtra and I am confident that more than 5 gigawatt capacity will be generated by 2030," he said.
