Kinnaur, June 28 -- The annual Kinnaur Kailash Yatra 2026 has been postponed indefinitely after the Kinnaur district administration identified severe safety hazards along the pilgrimage route, including active glaciers, unstable boulders, and an increased risk of rockfalls and landslides.

The yatra was originally scheduled to be held from July 1 to July 30, 2026. The decision was taken following a detailed reconnaissance conducted by a special team on June 21 to assess the condition of the route.

Kinnaur Kailash is a majestic 6,050-meter-high mountain in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur district. It is deeply revered for its 79-foot vertical rock formation resembling a 'Shivalingam'.
