Kannur, Aug. 27 -- A 33-year-old man was arrested in Kannur for allegedly smuggling MDMA concealed inside a robot toy.

The accused has been identified as A Faisal, a native of Puthenkandam in Pinarayi. According to police, 20.5 grams of MDMA was recovered from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Kannur Town Police and the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) apprehended Faisal in what officials described as a "highly skilled operation".

During preliminary interrogation, Faisal told police that the contraband had been sent via parcel from Bengaluru.
