Tehran, July 17 -- Iran's Army on Thursday (local time) stated that it has launched drone attacks targeting US military assets in Bahrain in response to American strikes on civilian infrastructure in the Islamic Republic, which resulted in the death of three and injured several.

According to a statement carried by Iranian state media outlet Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), the Iranian Army's Public Relations Department said the operation was conducted as the 11th phase of "Operation Lightning."

The statement said the Iranian military targeted the location of US military helicopters and P-8 reconnaissance aircraft at the Sakhir base in Bahrain using Arash drones.
