Mumbai, Aug. 31 -- Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan on Monday presided over the commissioning ceremony of 'Nipun', the Indian Navy's second Diving Support Vessel (DSV), at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.

The commissioning marks another significant milestone in strengthening the Indian Navy's maritime capabilities, particularly in the niche domain of deep-sea diving and underwater operations

Built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), 'Nipun' was delivered to the Indian Navy on July 30, 2026, at Visakhapatnam. The vessel has been designed and constructed in accordance with the classification rules of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS)
