Christchurch, Oct. 25 -- India became the first team to register 200 victories in men's T20 Internationals after defeating New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling second match of the five-game series at Hagley Oval.

Chasing 181 for victory, India recovered from a precarious 70 for five to reach 181 for six, with Tilak Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy guiding the visitors home through an unbeaten 69-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

The win gave India a 2-0 lead in the series, with three matches remaining. India have now won 200 of their 300 T20Is since making their debut in the format in 2006, losing 83 matches, while the remaining games have ended in ties or no results.
