Households expect inflation to reach 10% in one year as price concerns rise: RBI survey
New Delhi, Oct. 8 -- Indian households expect inflation to reach 10 per cent over the next one year, up from 9.4 per cent in July, reflecting growing concerns over rising prices at a time when the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has begun raising interest rates to contain inflation.
According to the RBI's September 2026 Inflation Expectations Survey of Households, the median inflation expectation for the next 12 months increased by 60 basis points to 10 per cent, while the three-month expectation rose by 70 basis points to 9.9 per cent from 9.2 per cent in July.
The RBI said, "Households' median inflation expectations for the next three months and one year rose by 70 bps and 60 bps to 9.9 per cent and 10.0 per cent, respectively."
