Historic outings for Deepti, Smriti, Charani against Pakistan in women's T20WC opener
Birmingham, June 14 -- It was a historic outing for all-rounder Deepti Sharma against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup opener against arch-rivals Pakistan, becoming the highest wicket-taker in women's T20Is and becoming the third Indian to secure a five-wicket haul in the Women's T20 WC history.
During her side's match against Pakistan, while defending 171 runs, Deepti dismantled Pakistan's line-up with a sensational spell of 5/10 in four overs, as Pakistan sank from 38/0 to 106 all out.
This is the third fifer by an Indian in a women's T20 WC match after Priyanka Roy versus Pakistan, Taunton, 2009 and Renuka Thakur's 5/15 against England, Gqeberha, 2023.
