High Court dismisses PIL challenging use of ballot papers in Punjab local body polls
Chandigarh, May 22 -- The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the decision to conduct voting through ballot papers, instead of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the upcoming local body elections.
Preparation is in full swing for the municipal corporation, municipal council, and nagar panchayat elections scheduled across Punjab on May 26.
According to the State Election Commission, Punjab, 23 observers have been deployed to oversee the elections. The counting of votes will take place on May 29.
