Haldwani 'purification' row: DK Shivakumar questions FIR against Rahul Gandhi, says "democracy is not alive"
Bengaluru, Sept. 13 -- Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday criticised the FIR registered against Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the alleged 'purification' ritual conducted at Haldwani's Ramlila Ground, saying the action was an attempt to curb his right to raise his voice for Dalits and other sections of society.
Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said Rahul Gandhi had every right to speak on issues concerning different sections of society in a democracy and questioned the registration of an FIR over his remarks.
