Gurugram, July 16 -- Gurugram Police have detained 13 alleged Bangladeshi nationals suspected of residing illegally in the city and initiated the process for their deportation, an official said on Thursday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Naveen Sharma said the Crime Branch had received information around a month ago that some Bangladeshi nationals were residing illegally in India and working as labourers at different locations in Gurugram.

"Acting on this intelligence, the team detained 13 Bangladeshi nationals who were staying in the country illegally. Upon verifying their documents, it was confirmed that they had entered India unlawfully. Consequently, proceedings for their deportation were initiated," Sharma said.
