Fish offering at Kalighat part of Bengal's centuries-old tradition: Congress leader Rakesh Sinha
Ranchi, Sept. 12 -- Congress leader Rakesh Sinha on Saturday defended the offering of fish to the deity at Kalighat Temple, saying the practice is part of Bengal's centuries-old tradition and reflects the diversity of customs followed across different parts of the country.
Speaking to ANI, Sinha said that worship practices vary from state to state and are shaped by local customs and beliefs.
"This is a country of diversity. In every state, the method of worship follows local customs. Each state has its own distinct beliefs."
He said offering fish to the Goddess at the beginning of Navratri was part of Bengal's culture and had been followed for centuries, adding that traditions rooted in local customs should not be questioned or stopped...
