New Delhi, May 23 -- An individual accused of the double-murder of a mother and son was injured in a police encounter in Delhi's Govindpuri area, officials said.

The encounter took place on Wednesday when the accused, identified as Saurabh, allegedly opened fire on a police team during an operation by the South-East District's Anti-Narcotics Team.

The accused fired four shots, but the police responded in self-defence by shooting him in the leg and arrested the accused following the encounter.
