Kolkata, July 1 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday said healthcare infrastructure in the state has improved significantly with the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, while asserting that the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita includes provisions to ensure the safety of doctors and protect them in the discharge of their duties.

Addressing the inauguration of various health and family welfare projects, Adhikari said, "The conditions in hospitals were very bad... what the situation was before. What kind of arrangements were there in the medical colleges? The Ayushman Bharat scheme has been implemented in the last one and a half months.
