Shanghai, Oct. 10 -- Novak Djokovic's bid to close in on Roger Federer's career ATP title record suffered a setback as the Serbian great crashed out of the Shanghai Masters 2026 in the second round, losing 4-6, 3-6 to Poland's Hubert Hurkacz on Friday.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion, who arrived in Shanghai on the back of his 102nd tour-level title at the China Open in Beijing, struggled to counter Hurkacz's powerful serve and precise baseline game in an 87-minute contest, according to Olympics.com.
