New Delhi, Aug. 4 -- The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is likely to introduce a mandate requiring aircraft operators, both Indian and foreign carriers operating on international routes, to report data covering a minimum of 90 per cent of their annual carbon emissions arising from operations involving all international airports in India.

Sources said that this move is aimed at ensuring a level playing field and avoiding economic distortion among operators.

This comes amid India's preparations to meet global sustainability requirements under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).
