New Delhi, Oct. 29 -- Delhi Police have registered an FIR at Jamia Nagar Police Station in connection with vandalism at Jamia Millia Islamia University, following a complaint by the university administration, police said on Thursday.

Unidentified people have been named in the FIR, according to Delhi Police.

Police said two FIRs have so far been registered in connection with the Jamia University matter.

Tension gripped the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) campus on Wednesday following widespread vandalism, stone-pelting, and destruction of university infrastructure by protesting students and locals late Tuesday night, an official statement said.

The unrest comes amid ongoing student agitation over various demands.
