New Delhi, Oct. 11 -- Delhi Police on Sunday detained protesters gathered at the Inner Circle of Connaught Place, where members of the Students' Federation of India (SFI) and Left parties staged a protest amid a heavy police deployment.

The detentions came a day after heightened security and large-scale detentions in the national capital over a Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)-led protest at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.

Meanwhile, CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were released after being produced before the Executive Magistrate at Delhi Cantt Police Station following their preventive arrest. CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh confirmed their release.
