New Delhi, June 28 -- A team of the Special Staff of Delhi Police's Outer District on Sunday arrested a wanted chain snatcher following a brief exchange of fire in the national capital, during which the accused sustained a gunshot injury to his leg, police said.

The accused, identified as Chandan alias 'Haddi', was wanted in connection with around nine cases of chain snatching. A semi-automatic pistol, four empty cartridges and a scooter were recovered from his possession.

Speaking about the operation, DCP Outer District Vikram Singh said the accused was a habitual offender involved in multiple cases.
