New Delhi, Sept. 25 -- A joint team of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Delhi Police has arrested Arif alias 'Pistol', an alleged operative of the Goldy Brar gang, from Ahmedabad's Vejalpur area in connection with a multi-state extortion network, Delhi Police sources said.

According to police sources, Arif was allegedly involved in making extortion calls and had demanded Rs 1 crore from a Delhi Jal Board contractor in Delhi's Roop Nagar area.

The accused allegedly threatened to kill the contractor if the extortion amount was not paid within 48 hours, following which the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint.
