Delhi HC directs police to decide plea seeking permission for Dalit Christians' protest at Jantar Mantar
New Delhi, Aug. 7 -- The Delhi High Court on Friday directed the Delhi Police to decide on an application seeking permission for a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar on August 10 over the demand for extending Scheduled Caste status to Dalit Christians, while observing that the issue of law and order falls within the police's domain.
Justice Amit Mahajan disposed of a plea filed by the All India Dalit Christian Rights Protection Committee (AIDCRPC) after the Centre informed the Court that the Delhi Police would decide the application and communicate its decision by Saturday.
