Bengaluru, March 6 -- Karnataka Congress MLA Rizwan Arshad on Friday welcomed the State government's decision to ban social media use for children under 16 years, terming it a necessary step to address growing concerns among families.

Arshad said excessive exposure to unfiltered information on social media can negatively affect children's mental and emotional development. He added that a proper system is needed to regulate such exposure and expressed confidence that the government recognised the issue, which is why it announced the move.
