Chennai, Oct. 28 -- All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AIPTMMK) party founder Chakravarthy on Wednesday announced the removal of Sasikala, a close friend of J Jayalalithaa, as the party's general secretary, citing her failure to engage in party activities after the elections.

Addressing reporters at the party headquarters in Valasaravakkam, Chennai, Chakravarthy said Sasikala, who assumed charge as general secretary in 2026, had not participated in party activities since the elections. He also said he had been unable to meet her.
