New Delhi, Sept. 12 -- BRICS countries have opposed unilateral and protectionist climate measures, including carbon border adjustment mechanisms, and called for greater financial and technological support for developing countries to tackle climate change, according to the BRICS New Delhi Declaration.

The grouping said such measures could undermine the efforts of developing countries to address the adverse impacts of climate change and strengthen their adaptive capacity and resilience.

"We oppose unilateral, punitive, discriminatory and protectionist measures that are not in line with international law, such as carbon border adjustment mechanisms," the BRICS declaration said.
