Bangladeshi workers in Lebanon face "severe crisis" and job loss amid Israeli attacks
Dhaka, May 13 -- The ongoing conflict in Lebanon has dealt a devastating blow to the migrant workforce, with approximately 5,000 Bangladeshi labourers losing their livelihoods following recent Israeli attacks. A rights group revealed on Wednesday that these workers have been plunged into a "severe crisis."
"In Lebanon, due to the Israeli attack, about 5,000 Bangladeshi workers have lost their jobs and are actually in a dangerous situation. They are now homeless. Therefore, they urgently need to be relocated from there, or taken care of in some way, or brought back to Bangladesh, or have other employment arrangements made for them," Tasneem Siddiqui, Executive Director of Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit (RMMRU), told ANI.
