Dhaka, July 27 -- The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council on Monday released data on communal violence in the country for the first six months of 2026, stating that the overall pattern of violence remained largely similar to that witnessed over the 12 months of 2025.

At a press conference held at the National Press Club in Dhaka, the Council presented partial data showing that 257 incidents of communal violence were recorded across the country between January 1 and June 30, 2026.

According to the data released by the Council, 44 people were killed in 40 incidents during the six-month period.
