Mumbai, Sept. 14 -- Major Asian markets closed lower on Monday, with AI-linked stocks coming under pressure as a growing number of technology leaders backed calls for a more measured pace of artificial intelligence development amid concerns over the risks associated with increasingly powerful AI systems.

South Korea's KOSPI was among the biggest decliners, ending 3.37 per cent lower at 6,684.37. Japan's Nikkei 225 declined 0.83 per cent to 63,485, while Taiwan Weighted fell 0.70 per cent. Thailand's SET Composite also declined 0.85 per cent and Jakarta Composite slipped 0.10 per cent.
