Anthropic to implement machine-readable marking across new AI models to ensure content transparency
San Francisco, Aug. 12 -- Claude's new models will mark AI-generated content from day one as part of compliance commitments under the European Union AI Act's Article 50(2) Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content.
According to the company, the commitment applies to Claude models launched in the EU on or after August 2, 2026, which will support machine-readable marking at launch.
To execute this, two complementary techniques mark the generated and processed content: watermarks embedded directly into text and signed provenance metadata attached to files.
