Srinagar, March 14 -- After the Centre revoked the detention of Sonam Wangchuk, Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said that the National Security Act should not have been placed against him and highlighted his contribution to the environement.
Speaking to the media, she said, "National Security Act should not have been slapped on Sonam Wangchuk... He did a lot for the environment. It was very wrong to keep him in jail for too long."
This comes after the government has decided to revoke the detention of Sonam Wangchuk with immediate effect by exercising the powers available under the National Security Act (NSA), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said on Saturday.
