Hooghly, March 22 -- Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee accused the Election Commission of acting "whimsically" ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, alleging that the transfer of bureaucrats undermines constitutional principles and voting rights.
Addressing reporters here, Banerjee said the party has approached the court. "We have filed a PIL. Let us wait for that. The Election Commission is acting very whimsically. It is taking away the fundamental right to cast a vote. It is hitting the federal structure of the Constitution. It has imposed an emergency in an indirect manner. This is unfair," he said.
