"Very promising avenue.": Russian envoy pitches deeper connectivity via Northern Sea Route, stresses boosting Indian exports
New Delhi, Sept. 4 -- Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov has described the Northern Sea Route (NSR) as a "promising avenue" for trade, industrial development and exploration, while stressing the need to address the bilateral trade imbalance and increase Indian exports to Russia to achieve the USD 100 billion trade target by 2030.
Speaking to ANI, Alipov said the NSR could complement existing connectivity initiatives such as the Chennai-Vladivostok maritime corridor and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), providing an alternative route to Europe and northern parts of Russia.
