Washington DC, May 11 -- US President Donald Trump on Monday (local time) expressed optimism ahead of his visit to China and said that he looked forward to meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Ahead of the much-anticipated meeting between the two leaders, Trump said that "great things" would happen for Beijing and Washington.

He wrote on Truth Social, "I am very much looking forward to my trip to China, an amazing Country, with a Leader, President Xi, respected by all. Great things will happen for both Countries!"

Earlier, a White House official said that over a dozen business and tech leaders will travel with him.
