Evian, June 16 -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday held a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, where both leaders focused on strengthening Ukraine's defence capabilities, enhancing air defence systems, and increasing international pressure on Russia.

In a post on X, following the meeting, Zelenskyy said that he had a "good meeting" with the German Chancellor, and the two leaders discussed "defence support for Ukraine, above all the further strengthening of our air defence, the situation on the frontline, and the results of Ukraine's long-range sanctions."
