Guwahati, April 1 -- Congress leader Pawan Khera, reacting to the Bharatiya Janata Party's poll promise to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Assam, alleged that the ruling party was attempting to divert public attention from key governance issues.
Speaking to ANI, Congress leader accused the BJP of engaging in polarisation tactics ahead of elections.
"They will try to raise such issues so that the voters' attention gets diverted from the real lies of the BJP government, and they get misled. Let them try to polarise. The people of Assam will never get polarised," he said.
Khera also claimed that such promises are aimed at deflecting scrutiny from the government's performance.
