"Parks are not real-estate assets": Tejasvi Surya opposes Karnataka Cabinet's 5% park land diversion move
Bengaluru, Aug. 22 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Tejasvi Surya on Saturday opposed the Karnataka Cabinet's reported decision to amend the Karnataka Government Parks (Preservation) Act, 1975, alleging that the move could allow diversion of up to 5 per cent of park land for public infrastructure and utility projects.
In a post on X, Surya urged Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to reconsider the amendment, asserting that parks are vital public, ecological and intergenerational assets and should not be treated as real estate.
