New Delhi, May 24 -- Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Sunday said there is a complete breakdown of law and order in Punjab as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) was killed in Amritsar.

In a post on X, Maliwal, who recently joined the BJP, said, "Crimes are on the rise in Punjab, the public is living in an atmosphere of fear, there is no control over criminals, and Punjab's CM has abandoned his duties to accept servitude to Kejriwal ji. Shame should be felt."

Commenting on jail conditions, she said, "Prisoners are creating chaos, vandalising, and setting fires. All prisoners even have phones in their hands. Prisoners in Punjab's jails are given VIP facilities."
