Washington DC, Aug. 6 -- In a private meeting with donors, US President Donald Trump weighed in on Vice-President JD Vance's name as the presidential candidate for the 2028 elections, according to a report by the Washington Post.

Citing two people with knowledge of the comments, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, The Washington Post reported that Trump told donors in a meeting roughly two weeks ago at the Oval Office that he wants to see his vice president win the 2028 presidential election -- a sign that he is open to publicly backing JD Vance.

The discussions on passing the baton come even as some advisers caution that Trump has yet to settle firmly on a successor.
