New Delhi, Oct. 9 -- Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani on Friday said the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) assesses the national security risks and advantages of all satellite communication companies, responding to the controversy over Elon Musk's allegations that Starlink's licence was being blocked in India by vested interests.

Pemmasani clarified that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had no issue with providing provisional spectrum, but national security clearance remained part of the approval process for satellite communication services.

"As far as we are concerned, we don't have any issue from the DOT perspective, either providing a provisional spectrum and all that stuff," Pemmasani said.
