Jammu, March 11 -- The National Conference (NC) on Wednesday alleged that an attempt was made to assassinate party president Farooq Abdullah at a wedding function in Jammu's Greater Kailash area, with party MLA Ajaz Ahmed Jan claiming that the accused approached the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister from behind and placed a revolver on his back before being swiftly overpowered by security personnel.

Speaking to ANI, Jan said he was present at the incident spot.
